We are remote-first, but can also work from offices in Berlin, Lisbon, and London About the Position As the DevOps/SRE Team Lead, you will lead a team of 5 DevOps/SRE engineers responsible for maintaining the infrastructure and tools that support the development of Parity’s Polkadot SDK. Within the Product Engineering department, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of our systems. Your leadership and expertise will play a crucial role in advancing automation, enhancing efficiency, and optimising the performance of our entire technology stack. Lead a team of DevOps engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support Define and implement best practices for infrastructure automation, continuous delivery and cloud operations Provide strategic direction and contribute to the overall technology roadmap Drive the adoption of DevOps culture, practices, and tools across the organisation Collaborate with software development teams to streamline the build, deployment, and release processes Establish and maintain robust monitoring, alerting, and logging systems to ensure system reliability and availability Continuously evaluate and implement new technologies and tools to improve efficiency and productivity Liaise with stakeholders to gather requirements, prioritise projects, and communicate progress About You Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others Strong understanding of containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes Experience with multiple cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, Azure, DigitalOcean, OVH, Scaleway, etc. Experience leveraging Infrastructure as Code (eg. Terraform, Ansible) and GitOps (eg. ArgoCD, FluxCD) tooling. The Staff Systems Engineer is a seasoned professional with at least 10 years of experience in cloud and infrastructure. Extensive experience in working with container orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes. Solid experience in maintaining release pipelines using automated CI/CD pipelines and provisioning tools. Demonstrated proficiency in working with Linux administration. Proven knowledge in configuring, maintaining, and monitoring utilization pool of cloud infrastructure and resources using IaaC like Terraform. Expertise in incident management and risk mitigation of auto-scalable applications and resources in distributed regions. Understanding of Git and branching models for coordination with team members. Nice to have Hands-on experience working with release management and architecting within cloud platforms like AWS or Azure. Mastery of network security, traffic encryption, authentication protocols, firewalls, VPN configuration, SSH tunnels, and maintaining a critical level of security and restriction. Enhanced skills in other programming languages like Python and Golang are highly valued. A comprehensive grasp of economics and finance, including swaps, escrows, scalping, staking, and lending, as well as DeFi and Machine Learning for troubleshooting online services. Responsibilities Write production-ready, testable, and clear documented code, and handle edge cases. Understand team development approach, identify gaps, and recommend solutions. Maintain expertise in the team’s domain areas, its services, interactions, and data flows. Utilize design patterns for scalable applications, anticipating future changes. Perform systematic debugging within the domain. Ensure epics and projects are broken down, prioritized, and understood by the team. Communicate clearly with other teams, fostering effective and targeted communication. Promote documentation and knowledge sharing within the team and with stakeholders.
