Senior Enterprise Infrastructure Engineer

Gemini offers a wide range of crypto products and services for individuals and institutions in over 70 countries. Crypto is about giving you greater choice, independence, and opportunity. We are here to help you on your journey. We build crypto products that are simple, elegant, and secure. Whether you are an individual or an institution, we help you buy, sell, and store your bitcoin and cryptocurrency.  At Gemini, our mission is to unlock the next era of financial, creative, and personal freedom. The Department:  Platform Our Platform Organization’s purpose is to enable Gemini to scale effectively and empower our engineering teams to focus on building innovative financial products and experiences for individuals around the world. Within Platform, the Enterprise Infrastructure team oversees the internal corporate technology that supports Gemini’s offices and employees, including hardware and software management, cloud resources, developer tools, service and user account lifecycles, and operations of our global physical locations. Our enterprise technology strategy fuels business growth through an engineering-first approach by delivering a modern, secure, and scalable foundation for seamless collaboration, efficient operations, and future-ready innovation. This vision redefines IT as a strategic driver of innovation and acceleration, rather than a support function. By emphasizing operational excellence, continuous improvement, user enablement, and strategic automation, we transform IT into a catalyst for growth and innovation. The Role: Senior Enterprise Infrastructure Engineer As an Enterprise Infrastructure Engineer focused on engineering and automation, you will build and maintain the internal technology ecosystem that underpins Gemini’s global operations. While your responsibilities may include acting as an escalation point for complex issues originating from our support team, your primary focus will be on applying DevOps methodologies, automating repetitive tasks, and engineering innovative solutions to manage and scale our infrastructure. You will design and refine our internal tooling, develop integrations span across multiple web services, and leverage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles to enhance system reliability and efficiency. Your efforts will target the reduction of manual toil, ensuring that systems are stable, secure, and positioned for rapid growth. This role offers an opportunity to shape the future of our IT infrastructure by building, configuring, and evolving the platforms that keep Gemini operating smoothly and securely. The ideal candidate will thrive in the fast-paced setting of a growing organization and enjoy the variety of work that this position offers. Responsibilities: Build, maintain, and improve our internal infrastructure using DevOps methodologies, including Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform) and Configuration Management tools (e.g., Ansible, SaltStack). Integrate and automate workflows across various SaaS platforms, utilizing REST APIs, OAuth flows, and scripting to eliminate repetitive manual tasks and improve system reliability. Design and implement CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Concourse CI) to ensure smooth, automated deployments and consistent application of infrastructure changes. Develop internal tools, custom scripts, and services (e.g., in Go, Python, Swift) to manage, monitor, and scale our global device fleet, including macOS and ChromeOS devices managed via MDM solutions (Jamf, Google MDM) and, where needed, Windows endpoints. Collaborate closely with the support-focused team members, serving as the escalation point for complex technical challenges, and implement automated solutions to reduce future support burdens. Engineer and maintain integrations with AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, Cloudfront, CloudWatch) to ensure efficient, scalable, and secure cloud operations. Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies (e.g., Containerization: EKS) to further enhance system performance, resiliency, and security. Support identity management and user lifecycle tasks through Okta, Google Workspace, Active Directory, and other related IAM systems, working to automate user management at scale. Develop and maintain technical documentation, FAQs, and runbooks to ensure knowledge sharing and empower team members with clarity and confidence. Partner with cross-functional teams to identify operational pain points, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and advance Gemini’s overall technology ecosystem. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or 4-8 years of experience in a DevOps-focused IT/infrastructure role. Strong experience managing macOS endpoints, including MDM platforms such as Jamf and Google MDM, and familiarity with Linux principles (systemd, shell scripting). Demonstrated experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform), and configuration management (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Salt). Strong understanding of AWS services, networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi, VPN), and cloud-native operations. Solid CI/CD pipeline experience (GitHub Actions, Concourse, Harness) and version control with Git/GitHub. Proficiency in scripting and programming languages (e.g., Python, Go, Swift) and working with REST APIs. Understanding of identity and access management technologies (Okta, Google Workspace) and authentication protocols (OAuth). Detail-oriented and capable of juggling multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both engineering and non-engineering audiences. Proactive self-starter who can identify, plan, and implement solutions with minimal guidance. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a startup, fintech or finance support. Understanding of SSO implementations (i.e. Okta). Experience with Linux. Strong experience with macOS. Experience managing 2500+ devices through MDM. Experience managing 1000+ user accounts. Experience with Go, Python, and Swift. Experience with Configuration Management (Ansible, Chef, Puppet or Salt). Experience creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines. Understanding of Google Workspace management and products. Working knowledge of the Apple MDM protocol. Familiarity with AutoPKG, Munki, and other automated patch management or package distribution tools for macOS. Strong communication, teaching, and mentorship skills to elevate the capabilities of the entire team.
